Coping with Pain

When life does not appear to be fair and square and when you think there isn’t anything left to try or do to make you feel better or positive, it is a pretty difficult spot to be in. Whether you are in physical pain, fighting an illness, grieving the loss of your loved one or even facing challenges with your love life , no matter how strong a person you are there are times you feel like giving up.

When you are helpless or feel the control button has gone missing, being able to carry on is one of the biggest challenges we all face today.

Immediate solution
While living is easy and life isn’t, we all tend to fall back to aspects that really can make us feel better in the interim – comfort foods or drinking or even anger. But little do we realise that these short term so called relief will leave lasting issues for us to handle in addition to our already existing pain.

Hitting Pause
But the most difficult part when you are going through something is to hit the pause button. Just taking a moment to reflect the pain and accepting everything that has happened. Acceptance has the power to make you feel better instantly and will give you the rationale to the whole situation putting you right back in command. Slowly you know something isn’t right and you have recognised it. And the human self is magical; once we sense we need to fix it we will naturally start finding a solution or find ways to make you feel better than yday.

One day at a time
When the pause button is returned to play , you realise no matter how much you try, the uncertainty, the pain , the struggle is something you have to handle and it resonates with you that life will always be harder . During such times, the best bet is to take one day at a time. Overthinking tomorrow and what it has to offer will increase anxiety and leave you feeling unhappy and helpless. Instead taking one step at a time will help you get further, keep going and perseverance will slowly set it.

Every problem has a solution- hitting pause and taking one day at a time is all that we need.

No matter where you are in life remember change is coming and change is always good.
