“Mike you have a call “said his secretary. Mike asked her who was on the phone. She replied,” Hope foundation. They want you to attend lunch”. He said put them on.
Mike couldn’t be happier to answer the phone. “Hello Mrs Grace, Hope you are well, and don’t worry I will be there for lunch “.
At lunch, before starting his speech, Mike apologised to everyone. “Sorry all, I cannot put my phone on silent for a personal reason, I hope its fine”. And at the end of the speech, Mrs Grace thanked him for his support for the foundation and she leaned over to the person sitting next to her: “he is a good man”.
Miles away, Sara went back to the coffee shop where she met Sasha five years ago. She misses her so much, she misses her warmth, her love and most importantly the boldest woman she ever knew. She remembered the t shirt Sasha wore that day that read “Nyla”. Tears of sorrow were all she had. Nyla would be 4 years today and happy somewhere and she hoped she had a beautiful birthday in a pretty pink dress. Sara uttered softly, “Happy Birthday Nyla “.
After much thinking, she finally decided to reach out to Nyla’s father.
His cell phone beeped with a text message – “How are you Mike?” He looked at his phone with a huge surprise and checked the number again. Yes it was her. He thought to himself, it’s really been that long. Immediately without wasting a second he replied, “I am fine Sara, How are you”.
With a sign of relief she asked if she could meet up with him .The same place where they last met each other, five years ago – The hope foundation hospital.
